Ferguson irritated as Man Utd concede late leveller at Tottenham

Sir Alex Ferguson has hit out at the assistant referee after Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham today.

The Red Devils led after Robin van Persie scored his 18th league goal of the season in the 25th minute but Clint Dempsey equalised in injury time to deny the league leaders maximum points.

Ferguson feels that Wayne Rooney should have been awarded a penalty in the second half and also believes his United side were harshly dealt with by the match officials.

"The stand-side linesman never gave us a thing all day," Ferguson told Sky Sports. "For me, it was a poor performance by him.

"Why he never saw the penalty kick on Wayne Rooney and some of the other decisions...

"We remember him well from the Chelsea game (last season) when (Didier) Drogba was three yards offside and he gave him onside.

"I think he had a shocking game today. I'm disappointed in his performance, I really am. I think he had a bad game."
