Ryan Giggs will make his 1,000th professional appearance when Manchester United host Real Madrid tomorrow night.
The 39-year old Welshman played no part as United cruised past Norwich City 4-0 on Saturday following his goal in the 2-0 win at QPR in his 999th match last weekend but Sir Alex Ferguson insists he will play some part in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg at Old Trafford against the Spanish champions.
"He played against Queens Park Rangers and I always think that with Ryan, we like to keep him fresh and tomorrow he will be involved at some point, whether starting or from the bench," said Ferguson.
"I haven't made my mind up and his experience on big occasions will be vital to us."
