Ferguson confident Stoke keeper Begovic on way to Man Utd

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is confident of a summer deal for Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

The Daily Star Sunday says Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson expects to clinch an £8million deal - which would place a huge question mark against the future of David De Gea.

United's Spanish stopper is again under fire because of his erratic form - despite loyal support from Fergie - and has been linked with both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Bosnian Begovic, 25 is expected to be allowed to leave Stoke following the signing of England prospect Jack Butland.

United is his likely destination, although they could face competition from Liverpool, where Pepe Reina's future is also in doubt. A logical consequence of Begovic's arrival would be the departure of De Gea or Denmark's Anders Lindegaard.
