Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has praised Marc Guehi for his recent displays.

The Crystal Palace centre back has slotted in seamlessly with England over the recent international break.

Guehi, who is a former Chelsea player, replaced John Stones for the Three Lions alongside Harry Maguire in defense.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: “My biggest concern would be the confidence and morale of the other players in that position.

“So he's basically saying I've got no other center halves who I can trust at all.

“John Stones, who's the best England center-half around at the moment is injured. 'I've got to find a replacement'.

“Marc Guehi comes in. He just seemed to be able to step up at every level he gets asked to step up to. He steps up comfortably."
