Leroy Fer hopes he can play with Gini Wijnaldum at Feyenoord in the future.

Fer has just signed a new contract with Feyenoord and is close to Liverpool ace Wijnaldum.

Asked if the Reds midfielder could be returning to his old club, Fer told AD he'd tried to persuade him: "Yes, hahaha.

"But I don't think he's ready for a return yet. The Champions League, the Premier League. He is in the phase of winning trophies.

"But it would be nice to be able to play with him at De Kuip. Who knows in the future...?"
