The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now treating the death of former Sporting Kansas City defender Uche Okafor as suspicious.
The ex-Nigeria international was found dead in his home in Little Elm, Texas, by his wife on January 7 and it was originally believed that he hanged himself.
Okafor's family and the Nigerian community in the US demanded a proper investigation into his death and it has been revealed that the FBI are now looking into the fact that it could have been murder.
Okafor, who was 43 when he died, made 118 appearances for the MLS club between 1996 and 200 when they were known as the Kansas City Wizards and also represented the Nigeria national team on over 30 occasions.
