Father of Real Madrid No1 Courtois heaps praise on Chelsea hero Cech: Better teammate than Keylor

The father of Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admits the presence of Keylor Navas was a problem when he first arrived.

Courtois is now in his third season in Madrid, with Keylor having left for PSG last year.

Thierry Courtois recalled: "His transfer was a bit complicated. The campaign had already started and he was late in preseason. But above all, Keylor was still there.

"He had to wait two or three games to start. This did not smooth his integration because Keylor was always there, there was an internal competitiveness difficult to handle. Also external with the journalists, who were in favour of Keylor. Once he went to PSG, everything eased."

Thierry also spoke positively of Petr Cech at Chelsea after Courtois returned from an extended loan with Atletico Madrid.

"Petr received him very well. He was the first one who came to meet him in his first training session, he always him gave advice and helped to integrate him. He was a great teammate he could always count on. The same couldn't be said for Keylor. Once he left, things got easier."
