PSV Eindhoven striker Jefferson Farfan has revealed he will sign a four-year contract with Bundesliga giants Schalke after having snubbed a bid from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Peru international has helped PSV lift the last four Eredivisie titles and is believed to have impressed Juande Ramos with his speed and attacking instincts.
"I accepted (Schalke's offer) because I wanted to play in a very competitive championship," he told Peru.com. "I received offers from other clubs.
"There was one from Tottenham in England, another one from the Italian Fiorentina, and one more from a Russian team.
"What we decided with PSV was looking for a competitive team obviously playing in a better league that the Dutch one, that's why we accepted Schalke 04's offer.
"I want to start a new stage in my life.
"I won four league titles with PSV, was their top goalscorer, I was always backed by my team-mates and by the fans.
"I must say my time in The Netherlands was great and I believe it is the moment to emigrate, to look for new aims."
