West Ham United plan to continue a controversial move for Joey Barton despite disagreement from the club's fans.
After the Hammers' win on Sunday against Arsenal, fans are shocked that the former QPR midfielder is still set to join the London club.
Social media sites revealed supporters' fears about Barton joining West Ham, with the player's history of verbal and physical abuse that has taken place on and off the pitch being one of their main concerns.
Owner and editor of website ClaretandBlues.com Matt Ryan said: "If it happens, I think it could be a disaster.
"We are trying to gel as a team and we don't need the baggage that Barton brings with him."
While the deal is not yet complete, West Ham are low on numbers and could be exposed without experienced players like Barton to cover.
The club is said to be insistent that they will listen to the views of their vans, but have to make sure that Slaven Bilic has the right tools to win matches.
Ryan added: "I've seen some fans threatening to cancel their season ticket subscription. I've also seen some say they'll never go to a game he [Barton] is involved in, of which I think are a tad extreme."
