Falkirk boss John Hughes admits the club may have to sacrifice other jobs at the Falkirk Stadium in order to buy players. He told the Daily Record: "We're all in it together and as a business we have been hammered by the credit crunch.
"You just need to look at the boys who can't sell advertising boards. The last thing we want is redundancies at the club. If that means it's a case of me helping the other part of the business then so be it.
"We've been hit and I guarantee we won't be the only club in Scotland."
Falkirk go to Hampden later this month for the Co-operative Insurance Semi-final against Rangers and also have players leaving, but Hughes warned that it doesn't guarantee that the money will be spent on transfers.
"I know the fans will be counting what we will save on wages and what we will reputedly make from the semi-final but that's only part of it," he said.
"I've got to play my part in keeping the club solvent. I do ask questions but I understand how the business runs. We've got bills to pay and the money has to come from somewhere.
"You feel like your hands are tied but I've been in tougher situations and come through. All it does is test my resolve. There are no excuses from me or my dressing room."
