Fabian Schar excited being part of new era at Newcastle

Newcastle defender Fabian Schar admits he's excited to be part of the club's era.

Schar believes the changes made by Howe and the new owners have not only helped the team, but also brought the city closer together with its beloved football club.

"It's amazing the changes that the new club owners and our new manager, Eddie Howe, have made," Schar explained in an interview with Wiler Nachrichten. "We play attractive football and are currently third in the Premier League table. The cohesion in our team and the enthusiasm in our stadium and in the city is fantastic."

Schar jetted out to Qatar for the World Cup this winter and helped his nation reach the knockout stages. However, their tournament ended in bitter disappointment as Portugal condemned them to a humiliating 6-1 defeat in the Round of 16.

With his focus quickly switching back to matters at St James' Park, Schar is hungry to continue to positive momentum built up during the opening 15 games.

"In England, the season continues without interruption. Our first league game after the World Cup is on the agenda for next Monday, December 26," Schar added. "Of course we want to confirm the course of the season so far and stay at the top of the table. For me personally, I also hope that the remainder of the season will be as positive as the first 15 games."
