The English FA want West Bromwich Albion chief Dan Ashworth as their new technical director.
The Daily Mail says Ashworth is understood to be the FA's choice to become their new technical director. The role was due to go to Gareth Southgate, but the money on offer and the job's wide responsibilities saw him turn it down.
England manager Roy Hodgson worked with Ashworth at The Hawthorns and the club are sure to do all they can not to lose two pivotal members of their management team in quick succession. Ashworth is believed to be on a 12-month contract, which could mean him not starting at the FA until the 2013-14 season.
