FA seek explanation from Crystal Palace boss Pardew

The Football Association wants an answer from Alan Pardew regarding a comment he made in the wake of Crystal Palace's loss to Liverpool on Sunday.

The Eagles manager indicated that perhaps his team would not have been awarded the penalty that was given to Christian Benteke when he went down under only a feather touch from Damien Delaney.

Referee Andre Marriner pointed to the spot deep into injury-time after conferring with assistant referee Scott Ledger, with Benteke converting the subsequent spot-kick and forcing a 2-1 defeat to Palace.

After the match Pardew said: "He made a big meal of it in my opinion. If it had been us we wouldn't have got it."

The FA are now seeking clarification over the comments made, giving Pardew until Thursday to respond.
