FA Cup launch £1 kid tickets

The Football Association have launched an initiative to let children watch selected FA Cup third-round games for just £1.

Six matches have been selected for the 'One FA Cup' promotion, where adults attending as either a home or away fan will be able to buy a child's ticket for a pound.

The FA are funding the initiative and have chosen matches based on geographical location which also feature sides from various levels.

"The third round of the FA Cup, with lower league and non-league teams aiming to upset teams from the top end of the game, has a unique and special place in the football calendar," said chief executive Brian Barwick.

"Viewing figures on television and match attendances are strong and we want to build on that by giving as many families, and especially children, the chance to experience the magic of the tournament live."

Third-round weekend will see 32 matches played over January 5-6. The six selected for the 'One FA Cup' promotion are:

Blackburn v Coventry

Plymouth v Hull

Bolton v Sheffield United

Sunderland v Wigan

Huddersfield v Birmingham

Wolves v Cambridge
