FA chairman Greg Dyke has dismissed suggestions England could host the 2018 World Cup. FIFA officials are accused of improper conduct in the bid process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups - awarded to Russia and Qatar respectively - leading to claims England may be in the frame to stage the competition in three years' time should they be reallocated.
But Dyke, arriving at a UEFA meeting in Zurich this morning, said: "This is absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with an England bid for the World Cup or England hosting the World Cup. This is about one thing: how do you re-build the reputation of FIFA and turn it into an open, fair and honest organisation with Blatter still at the helm."
