Exeter boss Caldwell delighted with Southampton loanee Chauke

Exeter City boss Gary Caldwell has described the performance of Southampton loanee Kegs Chauke as outstanding.

Chauke made his first league start for the club, playing 86 minutes of the 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

He has now played seven games in League One, along with three starts in the Papa Johns Trophy.

“Kegs came in and he has been training exceptionally well and his performance was outstanding," manager Caldwell said.

“His energy levels and quality with the ball was a big plus from the game.

“We have seen his quality and development over the last few weeks, and we felt we needed the extra man to press, and Kegs was key to that.

“He was superb and it was really deserved for the way he has trained, and he has gone up a level and he took the opportunity with a great performance."
