MLS expansion club Orlando City have cooled reports of a move for AS Roma fullback Ashley Cole.
The former Chelsea star has been linked with a January switch to Orlando after a difficult first few months in Italy.
Orlando are in the market for another Designated Player signing to add to their deal for ex-AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder Kaka.
But an Orlando source, speaking with tribalfootball.com branded the reports as "pure speculation" and distanced the club from moving for the veteran left-back.
Cole was dropped by Roma coach Rudi Garcia for Sunday's 0-0 draw at Sampdoria.
