Exciting times at Newcastle Jets - Brockie

Newcastle Jets forward Jeremy Brockie admits there are exciting times ahead for the Hunter Valley club. The 23-year old New Zealand international is getting geared up for the visit of stars such as David Beckham and Landon Donovan when MLS competition leaders LA Galaxy come to town next month and says it will be a great moment in the history of the Jets.

"It is a very exciting time for the Newcastle Jets and the supporters in this area. David Beckham is a household name in football and I'm sure tickets will go quickly," he told tribalfootball.com.

"Since Nathan Tinkler has taken ownership of the club, things are starting to progress pretty well with and this proves it by getting a team like the Galaxy to come play us."

Brockie admitted that Beckham was his favourite player when growing up and was looking forward to being on the same pitch as him on November 27 at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

"David Beckham was my childhood hero growing up, I used to have posters of him and Manchester United all over my bedroom walls so I'm very excited to have an opportunity to play against my favourite player," he added.

And while there is plenty of excitement around the place at the moment, the 10th-placed Jets have to focus on their next league match - against the North Queensland Fury next Wednesday, October 27.

"While it's very exciting to be playing against the Galaxy, it is vital that we concentrate on the Fury next Wednesday," Brockie added further.

"We have a good run of home games now and it's a good opportunity to get some good results and make our way up the ladder. There are some great deals to get families and supporters along to the games so we are looking forward to playing in front of big vocal home crowds."
