Thomas Hitzlsperger has turned down interest from Aston Villa and Wolves to return home to Germany.
The 29-year old midfielder was a free agent after coming out of contract with West Ham United but has now signed a three-year deal with Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg.
His former club Villa were showing considerable interest whilst Wolves were also in the race for his services but Hitzlsperger is back in his homeland after leaving VfB Stuttgart for Lazio in January 2010.
