Former Aston Villa midfielder Ian Taylor feels Paul Lambert can uncover talent in the lower divisions.
Taylor himself knows all about the hunger of players unearthed from the lower leagues after waiting until the age of 26 to make his top-flight debut with Sheffield Wednesday.
"Paul Lambert has proved he can work with very good players from lower-league clubs and get the very best out of them," said Taylor in the Birmingham Mail.
"There's such a buzz about the new manager that I'm sure Villa fans would trust him to do that at Villa as well.
"It's possibly something the club haven't done enough of in recent years - off the top of my head I can only really think of Fabian Delph being brought in from Leeds."
