Ex-Vancouver Whitecaps keeper Nolly looking for fresh start with Chicago Fire

Jay Nolly admits it has been hard to leave Vancouver Whitecaps but is now looking to start afresh with Chicago Fire.

The 29-year old goalkeeper was traded to the Fire earlier this month and he is hoping he can back to playing regularly in their first team after falling out of favour in Vancouver.

"It's tough," Nolly told The Province of leaving Vancouver with wife Alicia. "We've been part of the city for four years. You get to know the fans really well, the community really well, and we have some really close friends in Vancouver. You look at it as your home.

"The way the first part of the season went, I felt I was getting stronger as a player. I've moved on from it. I have to look forward.

"It will be fun to go there and start fresh and make an impression on a whole new group of people."
