Former Valencia star Gaizka Mendieta expects David de Gea to stay with Manchester United.

De Gea, who has been United's star performer this season, has recently attracted interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Mendieta told talkSPORT: "Manchester United is a club, as a player, you want to play for.

"If they qualify for the Champions League, that's important as a player.

"From what I know, David De Gea is happy to stay at Manchester United."
