Former USA national team defender Jeff Agoos has been appointed as the technical director of MLS.
The 42-year old, who was the New York Red Bulls director of scouting and player development in 2005, will be brought in on April 4 to work with executive vice-president of competition and game operations Nelson Rodriguez.
Rodriguez told bigapplesoccer.com that the experience of Agoos, who had an extensive playing career which included a stint with West Bromwich Albion, will be invaluable to MLS.
"Jeff will help to assess the current state of play in the league, from the competition and quality of play," Rodriguez said. "He will have his finger prints on all development. When asked, he will also assist on player development and the reserve league.
His experience will help us enormously - as a player, international and from his time in the front office."
