Ex-Sunderland striker Altidore planning to be a winner with Toronto

Jozy Altidore is hoping he can help make Toronto FC a successful MLS club.

The 25-year old USA striker completed his transfer to the Reds from Sunderland on Friday with Jermain Defoe heading back to the Premier League after one season in Canada.

Upon his return to MLS, former New York Red Bulls ace Altidore was planning big things with TFC who he feels have plenty of scope for improvement.

"I want to win," Altidore told reporters.

"I want to be in a place where we share the same values. The job here is to build a winner and to get better and better every year, to not be happy just to maintain. I wanted Toronto, because of how they want to run things and the way these people are driven in this organization suited me.

"The willingness to always want to improve, to not be satisfied, it's not something you see in a lot of clubs in MLS."

Altidore, who struggled during his time in England, insists he is coming back to MLS to experience plenty of success and bring some silverware to BMO Field.

"I didn't come here for a vacation," Altidore added. "I came to help the fans get a winner because that's what they're dying for here.

"I'm desperate to come here and do well and help the team make the playoffs and from there, make something special."
