Ex-Stoke, Southampton defender Higginbotham backs Tottenham's Kane for England debut

Danny Higginbotham believes Harry Kane should make his England debut on Friday night.

?The Tottenham striker, 21, gained his first Three Lions call-up last week and is now set to feature in Friday's Euro2016 qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley.

?One of Kane's many backers is former Stoke City and Southampton defender Higginbotham who wrote in the Stoke Sentinel that he feels the Spurs ace will partner captain Wayne Rooney up front.

?'For me, there is no decision for Roy Hodgson to make against Lithuania tomorrow - Harry Kane plays,' he wrote.

?'I'd go 4-4-2, with Wayne Rooney up front with Kane, and tell the wide men to hit plenty of crosses for the Tottenham striker.

?'I've always believed the England squad should be picked on form, then play the players in form, and no-one is in better form than Kane.

?'I'd describe him as an old-school centre forward playing against new-age centre halves.'?
