Ex-Spurs striker Dempsey to release rap album

Former Tottenham and Fulham forward Clint Dempsey will be releasing a rap LP after the World Cup.

The US captain is now with the Seattle Sounders in MLS.

The 31-year-old, who raps about his journey from humble beginnings to 'Captain America', will be hoping his music can inspire him to keep 'banging Gs', or scoring goals to you and me.

"We just were having fun with it and it ended up being an album," Dempsey told the Wall Street Journal, and fellow rapper Mike Chehade believes Dempsey is the real deal.

He said: "He'll just call you sometimes and start free-styling - he doesn't even say hello … I'm not saying he's Eminem, but he's definitely qualified.

Chehade expects Dempsey to continue showing his talent on the field with the Stars and Stripes.

"We're not known as a soccer powerhouse - we're almost known for being soft. But Clint has this edge."
