Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood is in the frame for the Norwich City job.
The Mirror says Mike Phelan is keen to take charge at Norwich on a permanent basis - with Sherwood also a strong candidate.
They have emerged as favourites for the job after Neil Adams shocked staff and players by quitting as manager.
The Canaries lost to League One Preston in the FA Cup on Saturday but are firmly in the Championship promotion race.
Sherwood has admirers on the Norfolk club's board and wants to get back into management following his axing by Spurs in May.
Phelan, who spent five years as Sir Alex Ferguson's right-hand man at Manchester United, wants the job but has been given no guarantees he will be appointed.
