Former Tottenham midfielder Steffen Freund is happy seeing Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry proving his English critics wrong.
Gnabry made just ten Premier League appearances for Arsenal before moving back to his native Germany with Werder Bremen.
"I saw him when he played for Arsenal and I think he started to play when he was 17-years-old," Freund told the Daily Star.
"Maybe it was a little bit too early but you could see his pace and his physical strength but without any experience it's difficult to keep your place and play regularly for Arsenal.
"That's why he moved back to Germany and got games with Werder Bremen and, later, at the highest level with Bayern. He has been involved in a lot of goals in a lot of games.
"He needs match practice and if you have match practice regularly then you can grow as a player and as a person.
"Bayern Munich bought him, sent him on loan to Hoffenheim and when he came back you could see straight away that he would break into the starting XI at Bayern Munich and with Germany.
"Now, without Sane [who is injured] he is our best attacking player in Germany."
