Ex-Saint-Etienne, Monaco, West Ham striker Piquionne joins Portland Timbers

Portland Timbers have confirmed the signing of veteran French striker Frederic Piquionne.

The 34-year old former Saint-Etienne, Monaco and West Ham United man joins the Timbers after spending his entire career in Europe.

Piquionne will take up an international roster spot in Portland and comes to the club with a fairly strong pedigree.

"Frederic made a strong impression during his trial and gives us another quality piece in the striker position," said Timbers head coach Caleb Porter.

"He is a proven professional at a high level and helps our depth with Bright Dike out. We are very pleased about this addition to our club."

Piquionne kicked off his career with Nimes in 2000 and along with the aforementioned clubs has spent time with Rennes, Lyon, Portsmouth and Doncaster Rovers.
