Ex-Real Madrid president Calderon: Mbappe knows what he'll receive by joining us

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon says it should be no surprise Kylian Mbappe wants to join the Spanish giants.

The PSG star is set to announce he will leave for Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Calderon told BBC Sport: "Real Madrid offers these players not only money, because they can get that in other teams, but also glory, titles, collective and individual awards, the Ballon d'Or... That is important because the image of the players players can be very important for the rest of the world.

"When they sign for Madrid, Madrid gives them a lot in return.

"It's not just the money, I think the players deserve the money they earn because it is the money they generate for the clubs, but above all it attracts glory, titles. When they come here they know that their image and their reputation is going to grow all over the world.

"I know that Mbappé is a very well-known player, but when they come to Real Madrid their image grows much more than if they go to another club. It's my opinion. It's what I told Cristiano Ronaldo when I signed him in 2008. In the world there are very, very big clubs, but Madrid gives something special to the players. Now we have an incredible stadium. The fans support the club but they are also very, very demanding, that's how we have built the legend."
