Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano has hailed the performances of Cristiano Ronaldo this season. Valdano worked at Real when Ronaldo was first signed from Manchester United.
He told Marca: "Cristiano is a tremendous player. His perfectionist nature and ambition are contagious and spread through the rest of the team, and that's worth just as much as all the goals that he scores.
"I think that he's a unique player that can cause the opposition trouble from any position along the front line. The shortest distance between two points is equal to the distance between Cristiano Ronaldo and the goal."
On the Lionel Messi - Ronaldo comparison, he said: "Ronaldo has taken 20 steps forward to get closer to the goal, while Messi has taken 20 steps back to play more as an orchestrator."
