Former Real Madrid defender Francisco Pavon is sure if Rafa Benitez's appointment will be successful.

Benitez is due to be confirmed as Real coach this week.

Pavon said: "Benitez is a coach who has had many successes and is known to work well and to be picky, that is what is asked from Real Madrid.

"(Carlo) Ancelotti is a very good coach and there were many people who wanted him to continue, but in the end it was decided to look for another coach.

"The Board is the one that decides and if they did so, its because they think it is the best way forward.

"Benitez is a good coach and if he has good players he can do a good job. I think he can."
