Kris Boyd kicked off his Portland Timbers career with a goal in Sunday's pre-season clash with Swedish club AIK.
The former Rangers, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough striker headed home the only goal early in the JELD-WEN Field contest as the Timbers wrapped up their pre-season with another victory.
Boyd admitted it was nice to open his account but says that at the moment the fitness factor is much more important for him rather than scoring goals.
"It was good to get out for 75 minutes. It was my first game in a long time. It may take a few more weeks to get up to full speed, but it felt good tonight.""It was a good start, but the most important thing is to get the fitness out of the game," Boyd said. "But to top it off with a goal was good.
The Timbers kick off their 2012 MLS campaign against Philadelphia Union at home on Monday, March 12.
