Danny Koevermans is set to miss the remainder of the season with Toronto FC.
The Dutch striker went down in his side's 1-0 win against New England Revolution on the weekend with scans showing that he has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.
Koevermans will now require surgery and will be sidelined for at least six months leaving a gaping hole in attack for the Reds.
The former AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven man has scored nine of the Canadian clubs 22 league goals this term and will be a huge loss for the club who sit on the bottom of the overall MLS table.
