Ex-Premier League stars knocked out of MLS play-offs by former Reading winger

Former Reading winger Bobby Convey has completed a demolition job in ex-Premier League stars Thierry Henry and Juan Pablo Angel.

The 27-year old midfielder scored two goals and provided an assist as San Jose Earthquakes overturned a one-goal first leg deficit to down New York Red Bulls 3-1 (3-2 on aggregate) in the semi-finals of Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference.

Former Arsenal superstar Thierry Henry could only manage some minutes at the end after returning from injury whilst Red Bulls captain Juan Pablo Angel, an Aston Villa star striker in the mid 2000s, scored in his last game for the club but it was not enough.

In another England link, former Sunderland, Portsmouth, Wolves and Norwich City midfielder Carl Robinson sat on the bench for the Red Bulls whilst ex-Manchester City and Hull City winger Geovanni played 75 minutes for the victorious Quakes.
