Melbourne Victory are believed to be showing considerable interest in Greek veteran Giorgos Karagounis.
The 36-year old midfielder is set to leave Fulham this offseason and has been targeted by Victory head coach Ange Postecoglou who reportedly travelled to Athens last week to hold talks.
Postecoglou admitted that he was going after the former Panathinaikos, Inter Milan and Benfica star who has 125 international caps for Greece but suggested he may have to lose Marcos Flores in order to get his man.
"It's no secret that I'm trying to sign a new marquee," Postecoglou said.
"And unfortunately it's just the way the system is in Australia that means I have to lose someone to make space."
