Former Rangers defender Steven Smith could be set for a return to the club according to manager Ally McCoist.
The 27-year old left-back, who left MLS side Portland Timbers at the end of 2012, could be snapped up by the Glasgow club this summer.
"There's definitely an interest in Stevie. It's good to have players who have experience and who know the club so that we, as staff, can rely on them to go and play," said McCoist.
"I'd like to sign Stevie. He was turning up for training there and we tended to forget he wasn't a signed player but hopefully that will change."
Smith kicked off his career with 'Gers back in 2002 before leaving for Norwich City in 2010. Since then he has had spells with Aberdeen and Preston North End prior to him joining the Timbers in April 2012.
