Ex-Norwich, Middlesbrough forward Kamara excited about second coming at Columbus

Kei Kamara is eagerly anticipating his return to Columbus Crew after signing with the MLS club this week.

The 30-year old Sierra Leone forward re-joined his former club on Tuesday after last playing for the Crew in 2007 and is excited about getting into the area and scoring plenty of goals for Gregg Berhalter's side.

"I want to be in the box," said Kamara, who left English Championship club Middlesbrough in late August.

"I want to score goals so I can have some fun celebrations, because that's just my personality. But at the same time, I want to be a part of something good.

"Seeing that and seeing that's what (coach Gregg Berhalter) implemented in the squad, I hope I'll be a good addition when it's finally time for me to step in and play."

The former San Jose Earthquakes, Houston Dynamo, Sporting Kansas City and Norwich City man also revealed that he spoke to Crew legend Frankie Hejduk prior to his move and was inspired when seeing the former USA international's 2008 MLS Cup ring.

"He was wearing his championship ring," Kamara added. "I've won a US Open Cup. When I see something like (Hejduk's ring), for me that's really my most important goal.

"My goals aren't to come in and say I want to score 20 goals. My goal is to win something big."

Kamara spent two seasons with Columbus after the Ohio club picked him up in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. He scored five goals in 36 appearances before being traded to San Jose in 2008.
