Ex-Monaco, West Ham striker Piquionne fires home four for Portland Timbers

Frederic Piquionne scored his first goals for Portland Timbers by netting four in their 5-1 hammering of Wilmington Hammerheads in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup this week.

The former Rennes, Saint-Etienne, Monaco, Lyon, Portsmouth and West Ham United striker scored in the second, 17th, 34th and 45th minutes of the third round triumph.

Piquionne was over the moon after the match and was looking to take that form into MLS games after failing to open his league account in 11 appearances for the Timbers.

"I have five shots, and four in the goal," Piquionne said. "I need to keep scoring like this.

"We felt good after the first minute. That's why it would be easy for us."

The Timbers are not in league play this weekend but next take on Chicago Fire the following weekend.
