Ex-Melbourne Victory striker Allsopp gives some joy to DC United fans

Former Melbourne Victory star Danny Allsopp has given a small amount of joy to the starved DC United fans by helping the side to a win on the weekend.

The 32-year old struck the only goal of the match versus the Colorado Rapids in stoppage time of the first half on the weekend but was very reserved in his celebrations as the win did nothing for the club's table position.

"With the way this season has gone and everything, it was nothing to really get too excited about," Allsopp said "It was 1-0 and we still had a long time in the game to go. I didn't feel like getting too carried away."

Allsopp added that the goal came after a very testing opening 45 minutes but admitted it was pleasing to hit the winner.

"I was a bit frustrated but I just kept getting into the area. You've got to keep trying to get yourself into goal-scoring positions," he said. "Luckily, Andy (Najar) broke down the right and I got another chance."
