Ex-Man Utd star Yorke linked with Melbourne Victory job

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke is the latest name to be linked with the vacant Melbourne Victory coaching role.

The 39-year old Trinidadian is believed to be on the shortlist of possible coaches to replace Ernie Merrick at the helm of the A-League club after the Scot was sacked recently.

Already names such as Roy Keane and Ossie Ardiles have been linked with the position, which is currently held by caretaker coach Mehmet Durakovic, but now Yorke has joined the ranks according to some reports.

The former Trinidad & Tobago captain, who also played with Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and Sunderland, already has some A-League experience after leading Sydney FC to the title in the inaugural season in 2005/06.

Yorke has his level B coaching certificate and has previous experience as a coach when he took the assistant manager's position at Sunderland under Ricky Sbragia, ironically after Keane was sacked by the Black Cats back in 2008.
