North Queensland Fury are attempting to have one of the great British coaches join Ian Ferguson's staff. Former Rangers and Manchester United assistant manager Archie Knox is currently in Australia on request of Ferguson to take a close look at Fury's management setup.
So impressed has been both Ferguson and Fury owner Don Matheson with Knox's approach, that they're now attempting to secure him long-term.
Knox is a free agent after leaving his coaching position at Blackburn Rovers, where he worked with former manager Paul Ince and Fury's big-name signing Robbie Fowler.
A source close to the Fury told tribalfootball.com: "Matheson knows how valuable Knox can be for the club. The guy's worked with the best in the game and appears to be genuinely impressed by the lifestyle and challenges the Fury can offer.
"He'd be a great sounding board for Ferguson and he can pick up the phone and talk to Sir Alex Ferguson, Walter Smith, in fact anyone in British football. It's just a matter of whether they can convince him to stay on."
