Paul Ince believes the way he was sacked by Blackpool led to his son's departure from the club.
The former England, Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder was told via text on January 21 that he was no longer the Seasiders manager and he feels that attributed to 22-year old winger Tom leaving the club for a loan with Crystal Palace.
"It must be hard when your dad has been texted to say he's been sacked," he told Sky Sports News.
"I was actually on a course so I didn't know it had happened until my wife told me.
"She wondered why I was in a good mood. It wasn't nice and it wasn't the best way to do it. I had a good relationship with (chairman) Karl Oyston and to do it that way wasn't the right way, for me."
He added: "I don't like the window and Tom made his decision to go to Palace at about 10.30 that evening.
"To ask a kid to make a decision like that in such a short space of time is difficult.
"We spoke to a few clubs, we went down to Swansea and we spoke to Mark Hughes (Stoke City), Brucey (Steve Bruce at Hull City), Gus (Poyet at Sunderland), we were all over the place."
