Ex-Man Utd defender Neville taken down by corner flag at Everton

Tim Cahill has revealed that he was not too impressed by the goalscoring celebration made by captain Phil Neville last month.

The former Manchester United defender hit a sweetly-timed shot in the 3-0 win at Wolves on April 9 and mimicked his Australian teammate's usual 'boxing at the corner flag' celebration.

Cahill admitted it was nice to see but criticised Neville for having a poor technique.

"We have had some good banter and when he did that celebration it gave me a real giggle," Cahill told evertontv. "I sent him a text message telling him he needs to work on his technique, those punches didn't look great.

"He mentioned to me that he might do it, but I think the corner flag did more damage to him than he managed to do to it."
