Former Manchester United boss Wilf McGuinness has sympathy for sacked manager David Moyes.
Like Moyes with Sir Alex Ferguson, McGuinness was the United manager to follow Sir Matt Busby.
He wrote in the Daily Mail: "My advice to David Moyes would be: put it all behind you and look ahead. The future is still there, life goes on. Don't shut up shop, get on with it.
"This won't make him pack in the game... or at least it shouldn't.
"He can still become the manager he wants to be, but I have a lot of sympathy for him and this has brought back certain memories for me.
"I can understand comparisons because we both followed two of the greats in Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson.
"It is hard to be compared with someone who has been so wonderful.
"It wasn't an impossible job for David Moyes but it was a very hard act to follow because Sir Alex was perhaps the greatest manager Britain has ever seen.
"I had to follow Sir Matt in 1969 so I know how he feels."
