Former Manchester City coach David Platt denies quotes attributed to him about buying Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Platt was quoted by Al Jazeera that former City manager Roberto Mancini had wanted to sign Begovic.

But he tweeted:

"Surprised to hear about my quotes on Hart today.

"On holiday! Did Liverpool v Stoke last week and we liked Begovic but had Joe Hart."
