Derek Fazackerley is in the frame for the Notts County job.
The Daily Star Sunday says Magpies chief Sven Goran Eriksson could turn to Fazackerley, formerly his coach at Manchester City, to fill the vacant manager's role at League Two Notts County.
Fazackerley, 57, left Eastlands after Mark Hughes arrived as manager last year.
He would replace Ian McParland, who was sacked last week. Fazackerley is currently first-team coach under Lee Clark at League One Huddersfield and has also worked with Kevin Keegan in the England set-up and at Newcastle.
