Ex-Man City boss Reid tips Man Utd to succeed in title pursuit

Former Manchester City manager Peter Reid suggests neighbours Manchester United have what it takes to clinch this season's Premier League title.

Sir Alex Ferguson's United sit 12 points clear of Roberto Mancini's City and former manager Reid is of the belief that the red side of Manchester are in pole position with their ability to grind out the required results.

"Champions win football matches when they are not playing well," he said.

"Manchester United have done it and Manchester City haven't and that's the bottom line.

"That is why they are 12 points clear and that is the reason I think they will win it."

The former Sunderland, Leeds United and Thailand boss added: "I think it is very difficult to retain a title. Everyone wants to beat the champions.

"Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure, two of their best players, haven't been as influential as they were last year.

"They haven't scored enough goals - they scored a lot last season - and that all comes into the equation."
