Ex-Liverpool star Torres: Stevie G slip so unfair. He deserved title

Fernando Torres admits Steven Gerrard's infamous slip was a crying shame for the Liverpool legend.

The Reds midfielder slipped at a crucial stage in a match against Chelsea in April 2014, allowing Demba Ba to score a vital goal, which essentially ended Liverpool's title hopes.

Atletico Madrid's Torres, who was with Chelsea at the time, admits it was not nice to see his former Liverpool mate at the centre of such a mishap which handed Manchester City the premiership.

"I had a teammate next to me in a better position," Torres told Football Focus.

"I felt so sorry for Stevie because we didn't have the chance to win the league, and I know how important it is for Liverpool to win the Premier League after so many years.

"It was so unfair for Stevie who was the person who really deserved more to win the Premier League.

"But that's football, in one second everything can change."
