Ex-Liverpool, Newcastle Jets striker Heskey eyes Leicester comeback

Emile Heskey has opened the door to a potential playing return to former club Leicester City.

The 36-year old striker is currently undertaking an ambassadorial role with the Foxes but insists he would adore the chance to again don the royal blue shirt of the club where he rose to prominence between 1994 and 2000.

Heskey is a free agent after leaving A-League club Newcastle Jets at the end of the 2013/14 season and admits he is hoping to return to the playing arena as soon as possible.

"It goes without saying," Heskey told Sky Sports when asked if he would like to play for the Foxes again.

"It is a great club that allowed me to get to the platform that I got to. I'd love to come."

Heskey left Leicester after to join Liverpool in 2000 and after scoring more than 50 goals for the Reds, moved to Birmingham City in 2004. A shift to Wigan Athletic in 2006 followed prior to his 2009 transfer to Aston Villa which preceded his sojourn down under where he spent two season with the Jets.
